Critique Review

This week we did critiques and looking at my classmates artwork and getting feedback on my work really helped develop more ideas on how to make my work better. The main thing that I took away from my critique is to "let loose" a little and not draw so "in the lines". In order to further that emotion of fear I'm trying to portray, I have to be a little more messy with the charcoal to show that fear in my artwork. Right now you can tell there is fear by looking at the eyes of the figures but to further that emotion I have to make the drawing look less "neat". One of my classmates is doing her drawing based on her anxiety and some of her pieces caught my eye because she showed those harsh lines of emotion I'm missing in my work. Seeing that really helped me think about how I'm going to approach my work from this point on. I have to be more comfortable with not being so precise with my work and not worry about it looking clean. What I have to worry about is delivering the message I want to deliver.
